The Asian Forum of Parliamentarians on Population and Development (AFPPD) is a network of parliamentarians, established in 1981, to promote parliamentarians’ involvement in addressing and solving population and development issues in the Asia and the Pacific region. AFPPD’s Secretariat is based in Bangkok, Thailand.

Our Advocacy

AFPPD, alongside its national member committees, pioneer advocacy action on population and development issues by parliamentarians at the international, regional and country level. AFPPD sees the need to increase the ranks of parliamentarians who provide leadership in advocating among their peers and craft new laws on population and development.

Ms. Nobuko Horibe was appointed Interim Executive Director by the Asian Forum of Parliamentarians on Population and Development’s Executive Committee during its 77th Meeting Bangkok on May 4. The appointment is effective immediately until October 2015, to provide leadership, following the resignations of Mr. Ramon Pascal, former Executive Director in February and Mr. John Hyde, former Deputy Executive Director/Acting Executive Director (since March) in April 2015.
