The Asian Forum of Parliamentarians on Population and Development (AFPPD) is a network of parliamentarians, established in 1981, to promote parliamentarians’ involvement in addressing and solving population and development issues in the Asia and the Pacific region. AFPPD’s Secretariat is based in Bangkok, Thailand.

Our Advocacy

AFPPD, alongside its national member committees, pioneer advocacy action on population and development issues by parliamentarians at the international, regional and country level. AFPPD sees the need to increase the ranks of parliamentarians who provide leadership in advocating among their peers and craft new laws on population and development.

President Almazbek Atambayev signed the Law on Reproductive Rights and Guarantees of its Realization of Citizens of Kyrgyz Republic on July 4, 2015. The signing of the bill was six years in the making. It was initially adopted by the parliament in May 2015, two months before the President’s official approval.
