AFPPD's MAIN OBJECTIVES To contribute to the establishment of lasting world peace.To encourage and promote parliamentary initiatives designed to improve the living standard and welfare of the people of Asia.To educate, motivate and involve members of parliament in population, reproductive health and family planning programmes in Asia and the Pacific. To promote parliamentary activities aimed at building support among governments and their people toward these causes. Activities may include the following: To establish and promote collaboration in the development, utilization and sharing of research findings, expertise and experience pertaining to population and development amongst parliamentarians, their associates and institutions. To facilitate the dissemination and utilization of information resources which promote solutions to the problems of population and development. To facilitate, support sponsor and organize meetings and conferences of parliamentarians as well as expert meetings, seminars, workshops and training programmes in population and development.To facilitate, support and sponsor new and continuing research which contributes to a better understanding of population and development issues, including research which seeks solutions to these problems, especially as they apply to the countries of Asia. To support, sponsor, produce, and disseminate documentation, translations, publications, scientific and research findings, newsletters and promotional materials relating to population and development.To establish and augment the financial resources needed to render the Asian Forum capable of fulfilling its functions and responsibilities.To formulate and implement relevant projects and programmes as well as serve as a channel of communication and collaboration amongst parliamentarians. To encourage and promote the formation of national groups of parliamentarians on population and development in those Asian countries which do not yet have national groups of parliamentarians.
